The 1's got their season off to a positive start with a comfortable 5-wicket win over Horndon on the Hill CC at home last Saturday. They bowled the visitors out for 179 thanks to 3 wickets a piece for Callum Greene (3-21) and Alex Brazier (3-37), with excellent support from 1st XI debutants Harry Fogg (2-38) and Govind Nahal (1-26).

They chased it down comfortably thanks to skipper Kirk Laws leading by example with 49 and solid contributions from Manoj with 33 and Alex Brazier with 27. Fellow debutant Karan Patra chipped with a solid 24, as Zak Wilson and Kevin Sargent saw the side to victory with time to spare.

Horndon 2nd XI - 155 all out (33.2)
The 2's won the toss and batted first in surprisingly nice April conditions, and racked up an imposing 1st innings score thanks to Braden Wren (67*), Finley Barton (47), and Mark O'Neill (46), with further useful contributions from Dhruv Solanki (33) and Rob Marlow (24*).

In reply, Aamir Mushtaq and Kian Flood struck early with 2 wickets a piece to leave the visitors in trouble, compounded by Ollie Steele with a couple of wickets of his own, and a couple more from Sanjay Solanki to put the visitors deep in the mire at 80/8. A rearguard action for the 9th wicket saw the visitors to respectability thanks to 64 from Adhi, but once Aamir broke that partnership, the game was quickly wrapped up by Ollie Steele to ensure a convincing win by 100 runs.
