Match Results - 23rd - 25th May

Mark O'Neill26 May - 18:55

A disappointing weekend on the pitch with only wins for the 4's and the Sunday 2's to show for our efforts....

Saturday 23rd May

[b]Springfield - 122/6 (34.2)
OTCC 1's - 121 all out (29.2)
Springfield win by 4 wickets[b]

The Essex branch of the land of Bart Simpson made the 1's say "aye carumba" on Saturday with a relatively comfortable win by 4 wickets, after an insipid batting display by the visitors left too much for the bowlers to do. Manoj and Kevin Sargent both top scored with 24 as the hosts were set a paltry 122 to win. A determined bowling display made the hosts work for the win, thanks to 3-30 from Guarav Bhandari and 2-22 from Tom Redman, but it was always going to be a tall order.

OTCC 2's - 223/9 (45)
Harlow 2's - 225/5 39.4)
Harlow win by 5 wickets

A disappointing display from the Oats top order, and a lack of discipline with the ball meant the visitors left School Lane with the points at the weekend. After losing the toss and being asked to bat first by the visitors, the hosts fell to 87/6 but staged an excellent fightback thanks to Matt Hills (45) and an explosive 57* from Louie Collins, which gave the Oats something to defend in the second half. Some brief hope was provided by Harry Fogg, who struck twice in as many balls, but unfortunately, the Oats bowlers were unable to maintain pressure on the visiting batters as Ernie Extras top scored with 58, alongside useful contributions all the way down.

OTCC 3's - 129 all out (33.1)
Billericay 3's - 311/9/ (45)
Billericay win by 182 runs

The 3's were never at the races on Saturday, as they were soundly outplayed by a strong Billericay side. 50s from Morgan (54), Patel (65), Hastings (58), and O'Connor (64) laid the foundation for an imposing first innings total, with only Jamie Flain (4-38) emerging from the carnage with any credit. In the second half, Jamie Flain (51) and Govind Nahal (33) made any significant contributions with the bat, as the hosts fell a long way short.

Epping 3's - 187/8 (45)
OTCC 4's - 188/5 (43)
OTCC win by 5 wickets

The 4's kept the Oats flag flying on Saturday with a comfortable 5 wicket win, thanks to an excellent new ball spell from Rob Long (4-33), backed up by Kyle Robinson (2-26) and an economical spell from John Wilson (1-22). The chase was expertly managed by Tyrone Owen (81*), and solid contributions from Rob Marlow (23) and Kyle Robinson (28) as the 4's cruised home with overs to spare.

Billericay 4's - 169/6 )33.3)
OTCC 5's - 165/7 (40)
Billericay win by 4 wickets
An excellent 72 from Scott Douglas was not enough to inspire the 5's to victory, as a lack of batting support meant they could only manage 165/7 from their 40 overs. A determined effort with the ball made the hosts work for the win, thanks to 2-28 from Sheikh Ahmed and 2-45 from Kian Flood. Contributions throughout the hosts' batting lineup meant they reached their target comfortably enough.

OTCC 6's - 209/8 (40)
Stanford le Hope 4's - 224/8 (40)
Stanford win by 15 runs

An absorbing encounter an William Edwards saw the 6's fall just short of their target. The visitors were restricted to 224 thanks to excellent spells from Hiran Solanki (3-17) and Jake Wood (2-35), but unfortunately, their target was just out of reach despite good scores from Kugan Ramasethu (42) and Balachandran Chenniappan (48).

Billericay 6's - 185/9 (40)
OTCC 7's - 184/8 (40)
Billericay win by 1 wicket

The 7's came out on the wrong side of a pulsating encounter with Billericay, who completed the treble over the Oats on Saturday. Good contributions throughout from Ollie O'Carroll (31), Harry Bramwell (29) and Manwinder Singh Bagri (23) gave the Oats something to bowl at. Wickets from Muhammad Kahif Faheem (3-30) and skipper Eliza Winckless (2-52) meant it went all the way to the final ball of the game, but the hosts snuck home by 1 wicket.

Sunday 24th May
Sunday 2's - 239/4 (32.1)
Gravesend - 236/6 (40)
OTCC win by 6 wickets

A relaxed and good-spirited game saw the Sunday 2's to what was eventually a comfortable win. The visitors put up a competitive first innings score thanks to an excellent 102* from Bhoombla, but the hosts kept them in check thanks to wickets from Ollie Steele (3-36), Mark O'Neill (2-33) (yes you read that right...), and solid spells from Ollie O'Carroll (1-30) and Harry Bramwell (0-27). The visitors started well with the ball with 3 early wickets from Khatri (3-22), but an explosive 101 from Mason Wren, and composed knocks of 49* from Sheikh Ahmed and 48* from O'Neill saw the Oats home with plenty of overs to spare.

Monday 25th May - Essex League T20 Cup Quarter Final
Upminster - 185/8 (20)
OTCC - 169/6 (20)

A spirited display from the Oats saw them fall just short against a good Upminster side, led from the front by ex-Essex seamer Aaron Beard, who struck 73 off 42 balls and took 1-37. In the 2nd innings, fifties from Manoj (52 off 39) and a destructive 59 off 30 balls from Callum Greene gave the Oats hope, but a lack of support saw them fall just short.
